Fractional Crystallization  Cristallisation fractionnée
The process by which crystals formed in a cooling magma are segregated from the remaining liquid causing a constant evolution of the composition of the residual melt. As a consequence, a suite of minerals of varying compositions can be generated from an initial magma of homogenous composition (adapted from: Grotzinger et al., 2007).
