Bilingual glossary of geology

Sensitive (syn.: quickclay) glacio-marine clay deposited in the Champlain Sea basin at the end of the Wisconsinan Glaciation. If disturbed (vibration, excessive pore pressure) the Leda clay can suddenly liquify. This behavior explains the high susceptibility to landslides observed in the terrains within the boundary of the Champlain Sea basin.
